Wheels and tires

Getting your car detailed is a great idea, but it's an even better idea to detail it yourself.  By detailing your car, you can be sure that the job is done right, all while gaining valuable knowledge and experience.  Detailing wheels and tires is one of the simplest places to start, and should be done frequently.

When looking at the wheel, you'll want to start with any lettering on the wheel (usually the brand name for the wheel manufacturer.  You will want to brighten this up by using an all purpose cleaner and then rubbing it down thoroughly with a metal brush.  Once this has been completed, you can use your cleaner on the remainder of the wheel and wipe it does, preparing it for any additional dressing you want to do.

Then, you're going to want to pay close attention to the rim.  You will not want to use a standard cleaner for this.  Rather, you'll want to try to get a wheel and alloy cleaner.  If you can't find one specifically meant for that purpose, just make sure it's an acid free cleaner of some kind.  You will want to let this sit for a bit, then wipe down the chrome.  If you need to get off any additional grime, use a soft bristled brush to do so.

This basic procedure can be done as frequently as you'd like, but with how simple it is, detailing wheels and tires should be a regular activity.  This simple activity is a great way to make sure that you car remains looking its best.
