Subaru Carburetors

A carburetor is a device that bends air and fuel for a specific engine. The carburetor was invented by Karl Benz before 1885. It is colloquially called a carb or carby. It increases carbon content of fuel by mixing it with a volatile hydrocarbon.
The Subaru carburetor works according to Bernoulli’s principle which is, the faster air moves the lower its static pressure and higher its dynamic pressure. Most vehicles only contain one carburetor which helps the engine to not flood. Among some of the accessories used with the carburetor is the choke. The choke is used to provide extra fuel and restricts the flow of air at the entrance of the carburetor. An extra vacuum is developed in the carburetor barrel which pulls the extra fuel through the main metering system to supplement the fuel being pulled from the idle and off-idle circuits.
Some carburetors for Subaru are used extensively in racing. The Ultra Dominator Carburetor is light, made from aluminum construction. It is smooth for fully adjustable external linkage and strong billet metering blocks and booster inserts. The Ultra Dominator contains Teflon coated slabbed throttle shafts with low profile, button head screws mated to lightweight anodized aluminum throttle plates to improve air flow.
The Edelbrock carburetor is street legal and calibrated for maximum fuel economy. It includes timed vacuum ports, EGR and fuel vapor outlet and comes with jets, rods and springs.

A Subaru carburetor repair kit may also be purchased. The Weber Redline Carburetor kit includes both water and electric choke options for regional preference. The kit contains parts that are pre-tested and jetted to ensure maximal use. It replaces broken down parts within the carburetor. The kits parts are customized to fit the exact model of the carburetor. A malfunctioning component can definitely cause harm to a vehicle’s motor.
