Pyrotect helmets > Info > Racing helmets Racing helmets
So, you decided you'd get into racing. The thrill of the track – or maybe even the off-road – being tackled at break-neck speeds has been calling to you. Of course, you're not an idiot. You're going to buy a helmet. See the term: “break neck.” That will be all too literal if you're not careful. But you've noticed that there are a lot of racing helmets on the market, and you don't know which one to get. Well, the most popular types of helmets fall into one of these eight categories. There are Arai Helmets, Bell Helmets, Impact Helmets, MQ Helmets, Pyrotect Helmets, Simpson Helmets, Sparco Helmets, and Suomy Helmets. These brands all offer slightly different setups in order to meet your needs. It should be noted that what we're referring to here are auto racing helmets, often used for rally racing and similar, and not motocross helmets. For that, we recommend DOT certified helmets – and usually full face. Helmets for auto racing are a bit different in fit, style, and safety. They are designed to be highly aerodynamic, of course, but this is less important than it would be on many open-air racing styles. Of all the style available for auto racing, we also recommend that you get full face. About ninety percent of the styles for auto racing will be full face, simply for safety reasons, but there are some models which are open face and we simply can't condone that. The best thing to do as you do your research is look at reviews
for each brand and style and see which one seems like it would fit
your racing helmet needs best. Racing helmets are not just important,
they're a lifesaver – literally. Be sure to research and invest
in one of these helmets, and don't pinch pennies. Your hospital
bills will be more anyway. I promise. |
