The reality is, the Corvette is one of the only brands which produces high quality, street legal racing cars that are easy to modify and require little additional investment to get onto the racetrack.  Corvette racing is a fun activity for anyone who's willing to take the necessary steps to get into it.  It's not as simple as pulling your Corvette over to the nearest race track and impressing the world with your skills, however.  Here are some basic steps you'll need to follow to get into Corvette racing.

First of all, decide which type of Corvette you're going to race.  There are several models that are very popular, but the Z06 stands out as one of the best and easiest to modify varieties to use.

Second, attend a racing school.  You will need to look up local racing schools to find out about the length of their program, tuition and fees, and what specialized courses they offer.  There are some higher end schools (like Sportscar Driving Experience) which are large enough that they offer racing courses for different types of car, so you can specialize in Corvette racing while there.

Third, look into local race tracks, including amateur competitions.  There are online communities for racing in general, as well as Corvette racing, which will tell you about major upcoming events.  While you can modify your car prior to your first time on the track, it's strongly recommended that you wait so that you can have a proper baseline to see how much your modifications are paying off.
